Wednesday saw seventeen pupils take part in the Selby District round of the North Yorkshire School Games cycling competition organised and run by British Cycling. The pupils took to the sports field on bikes provided by British Cycling for a thrilling after school ride around a specially designed course. The pupils competed in a team sprint event, team relay and an individual sprint event. All pupils thoroughly enjoyed the event and were able to push themselves to the limit trying to emulate sporting greats such as Sir Chris Hoy and Victoria Pendleton. Their efforts were duly rewarded with passage through to the next round of competition for the two fastest qualifying teams. All are looking forward to the next round of competition in York at the beginning of July, fingers crossed for a medals haul!
