Photography and Online Safety

At Selby High School, we love celebrating our students’ achievements, experiences and successes through photography. We also recognise the importance of protecting our students and ensuring that their images are shared safely and responsibly.

In line with our safeguarding and data protection responsibilities, and following recent guidance on the use and sharing of photographs and videos in schools, we are making an important change to how we share individual photographs of students.
🔒 Individual photographs from events and activities where students may be easily identifiable - for example, Prom, school visits and other special school experiences, will now be shared through Ready Steady Learn, our secure school learning portal, rather than routinely being published on our public social media platforms.

Students can access these photographs securely using their school login and are welcome to view and share them with their parents and carers at home.

Social media involves wider sharing and can carry additional privacy risks. By using Ready Steady Learn for individual student photographs, we can continue to celebrate the fantastic experiences, achievements and memories created at Selby High School while providing a more secure environment for students and their families to access them.

We will continue to share appropriate school news and celebrate the achievements of our students publicly, while following our safeguarding procedures and carefully considering the images we use.

Thank you for your continued support in helping us keep our students safe, both online and offline. 💜
