Readathon 2015

Readathon 2015 has been a fantastic success with over £1200 being raised by Y7 alone to support two incredibly worthy children’s charities; this is the highest amount raised by any one year group in Selby High School’s Readathon history. Y7 students took part in fun literacy based activities in their lessons, these included making blurb bunting and creating reading games based on their current favourite books.

The whole school embraced our Extreme Reading challenge this year with over thirty entries from both lower and upper school students, additionally, eight students were awarded Vivo bundles for their truly spectacular efforts in creating freeze frames of scenes from well-known literature. Form groups pitted themselves against one another in a fabulous ‘Guess the teacher?’ activity, this can still be viewed in the LRC and Garrett were awarded top marks for the most correct guesses from their forms.

Well done to all involved in this year’s event. Where will 2016 take us?
