Official Opening of The Eckersley Centre

It was with great pleasure that we welcomed Paul Eckersley back into school on Tuesday 23rd May to be our guest of honour at the official opening ceremony of our new state of the art extension to our sports hall, the Eckersley Centre.

The facility is of course named in his honour and we felt that it was only right and fitting that he should also be the one to officially open it. The centre is testament to the excellent work that Paul Eckersley carried out during his 14 years as the school’s Headteacher. Making it a mission of his to work tirelessly to ensure that the school environment was continually being improved and developed to provide the very best possible facilities for students in which to learn and flourish.

I am pleased to say that the event went very smoothly and even the weather finally decided to bestow sunshine upon us as we gathered at the front of the building for the official 'unveiling' to mark the opening of this fantastic resource which will benefit both students, and the local community, for many years to come.

Very special thanks go to North Yorkshire County Council, Glenrate Project Management, PPIY Architects and the main contractors, GS Kelsey for each of their efforts in transforming Paul’s ideas into a reality.
