Animation 13 prize winner

We are pleased to announce that Antony McDonagh in Y11 has been informed that he is a prize winner in the Animation13 UK Schools Computer Animation Competition. This is the 6th Annual UK Schools Computer Animation Competition, which is hosted annually by the School of Computer Science at The University of Manchester.   The competition involved 667 registered schools.  In total over 1,583 students entered the completion with a total of 1,120 entries. The Competition, held annually, is designed to enthuse schoolchildren aged 7-19 about Computer Science and involves students creating an original computer animation, up to one minute in length.                                     

As a prize winner Antony will be attending Animation13 Awards Festival and Inspirational Computer Science Day at The University of Manchester on Friday 12 July 2013.  In the morning, all winning animations will be shown on the big screen, and winners will receive their prizes.  In the afternoon, there’ll be a keynote presentation by Dr Gavin Brown — “Making Computers Think”, and other inspirational talks and interactive hands-on Computer Science activities. 

A special thank you must be given to Mr Martin for organizing Antony’s entry.The school will be running a visit to the Animation13 Awards Festival ceremony in July in support of Antony’s brilliant completion win.  Please watch Anthony’s video below, I am sure you will be impressed by the quality of the animation he has produced.
