Readathon

Over the next two weeks, students in Year 7 will be enjoying their annual Readathon lessons. Lots of fun activities around reading, including bringing a book to life. There will be VIVOs for the best, so get creative! Prize hampers are being made as we speak for the challenges we have in store for you: the biggest reader; the most sponsorship collected.

The LRC has plenty of fantastic titles for all readers no matter what your interest. And, added to that, there will be prizes for those that take books out of the library. Go to see Mrs Cobb to find out more. Remember, this is not just about your enjoyment of reading (although this is pretty crucial!)

It’s also about supporting those less fortunate then we are. If we can do that in a fun way, then brilliant. Happy reading Y7!  Let’s read and raise loads!

Readathon is the UK’s national sponsored reading event – and is based on the idea that reading for pleasure is known to improve a child’s chances throughout their lives. Readathon supports two charities - CLIC Sargent, which provides vital support for children and young people with cancer, and their families, and Roald Dahl’s Marvellous Children’s Charity, which helps seriously ill and disabled children. In addition, the school gets free books worth 20% of the total money we raise.

Thank you
