Landmark day for Rodgers

Pictured is ex Selby High School student and Hull City FC footballer Harvey Rodgers playing for Accrington Stanley F.C. following his loan deal until the end of the season. Twenty-year old Harvey made his full professional league debut on 21st January at home to high flying Carlisle United and nearly scored the winner in the dying seconds of the game, despite Accrington playing for 80 minutes of the game with only ten men. He then played in the FA Cup away at Premier League club Middlesborough where the team turned in an excellent performance and lost 1-0. Harvey retained his place in the starting line-up against Notts County last Saturday and scored the first goal, a header, just before half time in a game that saw Accrington run out 2-0 winners.

Paul Eckersley, Principal, said,

Everyone at the school, including myself, have been incredibly proud of all of Harvey’s achievements since he signed for Hull F.C. as a boy. On a personal note, given that I was born in Accrington and am a life time supporter, I am absolutely delighted that he is making such a difference to my club’s current fortunes.
