Speed Dating with Industry
The Speed Dating with Industry event took place on Tuesday 3rd December 2013. Year 10 students were taken off timetable to take part in the event with half of the year group participating in the morning and half in the afternoon.
We worked with NYBEP to put on the event which involved 15 local employers and education providers being invited to school to talk to the students about their jobs and career opportunities. Students worked in groups and had six minutes to obtain as much information as possible from our visitors. The students responded very well, asked some probing questions and their behaviour was first class. Some positive comments from both students and employers were shared and we can safely say that the event proved valuable for all concerned.
Employers were: North Yorkshire Police, North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue, York University, University of Law, Tea and Toast, Selby Leisure, Selby College, Animals In-Tuition, BT, Askham Bryan College, Doosan Babcock, The Army, Selby College –Hair and Beauty, Yorkshire Bank and Sainsbury’s.
