Medical School Taster Day

On Wednesday 14th November Year 10 and 11 students visited the University of York campus for a GCSE Medical School Taster session. Students opted into the visit if they had an interest in pursuing a career in medicine.

The session was delivered by the Hull York Medical School and enabled students to get an idea of what different career paths were available in the field of Medicine, and how these careers may be achieved through different studying options at university. Students had a tour of the campus and took part in the Problem Based Learning session where they were given a fictional patient and their medical history, which they had to diagnose. Students used some diagnostic equipment and worked in teams, using problem based learning techniques, to solve the problem. All students said they found the sessions worthwhile as it gave them a greater insight into how to pursue a career in medicine.
