Commonwealth Day 2015

On Monday 9th March, the school joined young people from around the Commonwealth in celebrating ‘Commonwealth Day’.   The House Captains and Dr. Paul O’Gorman, the Curriculum Area Leader for  PSHEE&C, came together to raise the Commonwealth Flag on one of the ‘Golden Jubilee Flagpoles’ at the front of the School.

The theme for 2015 is 'A Young Commonwealth', this recognises the capacity, contribution and potential of young people, who play a vital role at the heart of sustainable development and democracy.

In PSHEE&C lessons students study issues associated with being a member of the commonwealth.  This builds on the work the school did in 2014 celebrating the Commonwealth Baton Relay and Games.
