Bryony Aspinall to perform with English Youth Ballet

The dream of one of Yorkshire’s top young dancers has come true.

Year 11 student Bryony will be appearing in a production of Coppelia at the Grand Opera House in York, for three performances from June 7th to June 8th with the English Youth Ballet (EYB).

She was selected at an audition in February from a highly competitive group of hopefuls from across Yorkshire.

Bryony and the rest of the 100 cast will dance alongside EYB’s international principal artists in a professional production. They are rehearsing intensively at the Joseph Rowntree School.

The Australian ballerina Amy Drew, when interviewed by the York press, said: “The young dancers we are working with in York have great energy and attack. Working in a professional environment gives the students a unique insight into life in a ballet company. They are so lucky – I wish there had been something like EYB when I was training.”

Bryony will be enrolling at York College in September to study dance and hopes to go on to become a professional dancer.
