Bewerley Park 2017

Bewerley Park 2017 yet again proved to be a resounding success and provided some tremendous experiences for all participants. According to the staff at Bewerley Park, they had some of the best groups of students they have ever had!  The weather proved to be very ‘British’ which did pose some challenges but the spirits of the pupils were not dampened despite the summer rain.  The resilient Year 8 pupils revelled in their first set of challenges and they maximised their opportunities in each of the tasks they faced.  The learning did not stop once they had devoured their evening meal. The evening activities were undertaken with the same vigour as those in the daytime; a night walk, orienteering and problem solving tasks were all keenly completed.

The highlight of the evening activities for all was the disco on the last night; never before has Bewerley Park seen such commitment on the dance floor as the pupils celebrated their last night at the centre.  All the activities provided a thrilling and challenging experience for the pupils, the most enjoyable of these appeared to be the ghyll scrambling, mountain biking, canoeing and the much ‘loved’ Leap of Faith!  The GCSE group were also very proactive in achieving some fantastic practical grades in both climbing and kayaking.  The week was, yet again, a great week for the pupils to develop their skills in outdoor activities and a great chance for them to learn a little bit more about themselves.
